Dreamforce 2024 Recap: AI, Data, and What’s Next for Salesforce

Whether you attended Dreamforce 2024 or are catching up afterward, the event delivered some groundbreaking innovations that will shape the future of customer success and business operations. This year’s event was heavily centered around AI and data, with significant announcements focusing on Agentforce and Data Cloud, while Revenue Cloud updates, although important, seems (at least on first review) to have taken a bit of a secondary role. There was a lot of material presented this week, and this is by no means an all-encompassing review. We’re still digesting the news like many other folks, and as people make there way safely back home (or to the computer this morning), it will be great to see what other nuggets of information come to light that we either missed or realized we failed to mention below after review (e.g., Slack updates — awesome — official Slack blog post here, and the exciting news from our friends at Sonar (Salesforce Security partnership))!

1. Agentforce: Pioneering AI for Businesses

One of the standout highlights of Dreamforce 2024 was Agentforce, an AI-powered platform designed to enable businesses to deploy autonomous agents across Salesforce applications. These agents, powered by the Atlas Reasoning Engine, automate tasks across departments, such as customer service and sales, improving efficiency and accuracy. Salesforce emphasized that Agentforce can be implemented rapidly, making it a key tool for organizations looking to streamline their operations with minimal overhead . (Official Press Release)

For those eager to explore Agentforce, Salesforce has launched a Trailhead module where you can start building your first AI agent. Get started here.

2. Salesforce Foundations: Free AI Capabilities for Businesses and More

Another key announcement was Salesforce Foundations, a free upgrade offering essential AI-powered features across sales, service, and marketing for Sales and Service Cloud users with enterprise licenses. Salesforce is offering this feature set to help organizations experience the power of AI-driven tools without additional costs. This makes AI more accessible and gives businesses a seamless way to integrate advanced features like Data Cloud and Service Cloud into their existing Salesforce environment. At AllSherpas, we are currently investigating the PayNow ability!

3. Revenue Cloud: Important Updates, But Not the Spotlight

While Revenue Cloud continues to be a vital tool for managing complex revenue processes, its updates at Dreamforce were not a central focus compared to the broader AI and data announcements. Nonetheless, Revenue Cloud received enhancements aimed at simplifying consumption-based pricing and automated quoting, helping businesses streamline revenue management. These updates further strengthen Revenue Cloud’s position as a key component for companies needing advanced revenue management tools, even if it didn’t take center stage this year. It was fun to follow Garvens Consulting’s journey at Dreamforce. Check out his blog here and/or follow him on Linkedin. There’s a lot of great Revenue Cloud information!

4. Data Cloud Enhancements: The Backbone of AI

Another major theme at Dreamforce was the ongoing evolution of Data Cloud, which continues to be the foundational element of Salesforce’s AI capabilities. Salesforce announced new connectors and real-time processing improvements, allowing businesses to work with unstructured data, such as video and audio, more effectively. These upgrades enable companies to gain deeper insights into customer behavior, facilitating more personalized interactions across all touchpoints. This topic alone could be multiple blog posts, and like many other folks, we too are digesting the latest and greatest news. Needless to say, the future is going to be interesting to say the least!
